Byakuya Kuchiki

This is my first sketch of the most handsome character (in my opinion) in Bleach, Byakuya Kuchiki. The sketch is far from perfect though because sketching characters from Bleach is a little bit more difficult compared to sketh characters from other manga, such as, Naruto or One Piece L. Anyway, I’m totally sure that everyone knows about Bleach, a manga which is originally written by Tite Kubo and has already been made anime which ended (or more like “cancelled”?) 2 years ago in episode 366. 

Bleach tells about an ordinary human, Ichigo Kurosaki, who becomes a shinigami and ends up fighting hollows, evil spirits that eat humans’ life force. One thing that I like the most from Bleach is because there are a lot of interesting characters with stunning look in it. Byakuya Kuchiki is one of them. He is my number one favorite character in the story followed by Ichigo Kurosaki, Ichimaru Gin, Hitsugaya Toushiro, Zaraki Kenpachi, Ukitake Junshuro, Kyoraku Shunsui, Aizen Sousuke, Ulquiorra and many more. Well, compared to any other titles, I favorite way more characters in Bleach because I find men wearing Shihakushō (死覇装) and holding swords are very sexy. Oho ho ho.

Byakuya Kuchiki himself is a shinigami who lives in Soul Society. He belongs to the Kuchiki clan, one of the four noble houses in Soul Society. He’s currently the head of the Kuchiki clan and the captain of one of Gotei Protection Squads- the captain of the 6^th division, to be exact. He used to have a wife called Hisana in the past. Unfortunately, Hisana died because of a serious illness. Before she died, Hisana asked Byakuya to find her little sister whom she left in Rokungai (a poor district in Soul Society) when her little sister was just a baby. Hisana was forced to leave her little sister because she couldn’t afford to take care of her due to poverty. Hisana wished Byakuya to protect her lost sister and act as a brother, replacing Hisana’s position as the real sister. One year after Hisana’s death, Byakuya met Rukia, the lost sister of his deceased wife and immediately took and adopted her into the Kuchiki House as his sister.

Byakuya Kuchiki in the story is pictured as someone who holds his pride as a Kuchiki very highly. He gives no mercy when someone tries to stain his family’s name. It happens when Rukia is going to be sentenced to death after violating Soul Society’s law, giving her shinigami power to a human. Byakuya doesn’t hinder at all knowing that the memento of his late wife is going to be sentenced. He’s even the one who brings back Rukia from the World of the Living to get the death sentence. Byakuya abides by the rules because he believes that it’s what the head of a noble family should do.

Now, let’s talk about his personality. From the outside, Byakuya is a very composed person and somehow cold. He doesn’t seem to care about others but himself and just like what I have mentioned above, Byakuya is a very proud person. I want to say that he’s a bit arrogant but I kinda feel bad about it. He’s my beloved character after all. However, aside from his cold personality, he has such a sweet and lovely side, he protects Rukia after knowing the fact that the Gotei protection squad is deceived by Aizen Sousuke who uses Rukia’s death sentence to take out Hogyouku inside of her body. Byakuya also saves Rukia when a female Bount attacks and injures her severely. He then stays by Rukia’s side until Rukia awake. When Rukia goes to Hueco Mundo to help save Orihime, Rukia wears a robe because Byakuya tells her to do so. It may be a small thing but for someone like Byakuya, doing such a thing is super cute. I just love him from head to toe. Even his voice is kinda sexy, especially when he says “Zenbonzakura Kageyoshi”. Ha Ha.
